Carolyn Monastra received her MFA in photography at The Yale School of Art. For the past fifteen years her work has focused on discovering and creating mystery in the natural world. Her awards include a travel grant from the English Speaking Union and a production grant from the Puffin Foundation. Residencies at renowned art colonies such as Blue Mountain Center, Djerassi, and the Millay Colony have provided her with inspirational environments in which to pursue her work. In 2009 she embarked on The Witness Tree, a project to honor and preserve the beauty of landscapes being affected by climate change.
